Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC adds second patent advisor, Dr Keegan M Caldwell

The northern New England law firm of Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC has recently added a second patent advisor to its Intellectual Property Practice Group. Dr. Keegan M. Caldwell willassist clients and attorneys with patent preparation and prosecution, primarily in the fields of software and chemistry. He holds a doctorate in chemistry with an emphasis in physical chemistry from the George Washington University, a bachelor of science degree in biomedical science from Western Michigan University and received meritorious promotions in the United States Marine Corps.

“We are excited to welcome Keegan to the firm,” said Lawrence H. Meier, chairman of the Intellectual Property Practice Group at DRM. “He brings valuable practical experience from a diverse background to DRM, and he will relate well with the innovators who are bringing new ideas into commerce. As we continue to experience a growing demand for intellectual property expertise in Vermont, we’ve encountered a growing need for this type of technical expertise.”

At George Washington University, Dr. Caldwell served as a research associate focusing on the development and in-situ characterization of new catalytic nano-materials using a wide variety of techniques for fuel cells and batteries. He served as research assistant at Western Michigan University where, with a U.S. Department of Defense grant, he developed a first generation sensor for phosphorous-based chemical warfare agents that led to the successful development of an applicable second-generation sensor. He also identified valuable binding site information of organophosphorous sensors that led to a first generation sensor. Dr. Caldwell has gained patent experience at the U. S. Patent and Trademark Office, and brings particular knowledge of post-grant proceedings. He also has noteworthy experience in search engine optimization and comparative analysis of quantitative and qualitative search engine techniques.
