Local Motion announces new board members and staff

Local Motion, now in its tenth year of advocating for bicycle, pedestrian, running and XC ski initiatives, announces new additions to its board of directors and staff.
Bill Cimonetti is a retired General Manager / Vice President of General Electric, former Chairman of the South Burlington City Council and a former State Representative. He currently serves on the South Burlington Rec Path Committee. He's a passionate recreational cyclist active in the Silver Spokes and enjoys tandem rides with his wife. Bill’s addition to the board is greatly valued for his expertise in business and public policy.
Scott Johnstone, Executive Director of Vermont Energy Investment Corp., brings a wealth of wisdom and experience from his roles in both the private and public sector. Formerly he was the Executive Director at Chittenden County Metropolitan Planning Organization (2005 – 2008), and Secretary of the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources (2000 – 2003) where he developed innovative approaches to addressing many of Vermont's pressing environmental issues. His experience and dedication to environmental issues will serve as a beacon in future planning.
Lisa Aultman-Hall, PhD, Director of the National University Transportation Center at UVM, is a nationally know expert in the areas of transportation planning, traffic safety, travel behavior and bicycle transportation. She received her graduate degree from McMaster University and her dissertation was titled, “Commuter Bicycle Route Choice”. Lisa’s professional and academic affiliations as well as her research in the field will be an invaluable resource to the organization.
Adele Dienno has joined Local Motion’s staff as the Membership and Special Events Coordinator. As a long-time supporter and volunteer, Adele brings an extensive background in event organizing and work with area non-profits to the initiative of Local Motion. Most immediately, she is working on the VerMontreal Tour, a 120 person fully-supported bike ride to Montreal for the famed Tour de l’Ile in early June.
Local Motion is a membership supported non-profit organization promoting active transportation and recreation. The organization seeks to improve personal health and the local economy by developing regional trails, promoting walkable communities, and fostering active lifestyles. Founded in1999 to develop the Winooski River Bike Ferry, the organization has grown to 800 member households. Now celebrating its tenth year, Local Motion continues to strive toward bigger goals including increasing our membership to 1,000 member households in 2009.
