Rutland Regional Medical Center extends a warm welcome to Ethan Flynn

Rutland Regional Medical Center is pleased to extend a warm welcome to Ethan Flynn, MD, who joins the outstanding group of physicians and other staff members in the hospital’s Pathology Lab.
Pathologists can be thought of as detectives in some ways because they analyze samples of tissue and blood to determine whether a patient has a disease and if so, its level of severity. Dr. Flynn specializes in cancer diagnosis.
He received his medical degree from Louisiana State University. Dr. Flynn worked as a resident at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland where he later worked as a staff pathologist. Dr. Flynn comes to Rutland from his position of pathologist at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.
“Ensuring quality is where pathologists have an active role,” Dr. Flynn said. “Sixty percent of patient care is related to lab diagnosis. The work is extremely vital but out of the limelight.”
Dr. Flynn is excited to begin this new step in his medical career in Rutland. “This area is a warm, welcoming place and is ideal for a person like me who wants access to the outdoors.”
