Copley Hospital welcomes Arthur (Art) Mathisen, FACHE, as Chief Operating Officer (COO). Reporting to Mathisen, as COO, are the Chief Nursing Officer, Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Support and Ancillary Services.
“I am pleased to welcome Art,” says Mel Patashnick, CEO of Copley Hospital. “He brings financial and organizational expertise to oversee the day to day operations of the hospital, which in turn enables me to focus on strategic collaborations and healthcare reform initiatives.”
Mathisen has served as COO of two healthcare centers in the military, and has a background in physician practice management. Previously he was responsible for the multi-specialty physician practices of Bon Secours Medical Group in Virginia. He has held senior executive positions at Munson Army Health Center in Kansas, Kirk Army Health Clinic in Maryland, AllGood Army Community Hospital in South Korea, and Weed Army Community Hospital in California. He completed an Healthcare Administrative Fellowship with Humana, working with Florida Medicare and Medicaid Products.
Mathisen holds a Bachelor of Public Management Degree from the University of Maine and a Master of Health Administration from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. He has been certified as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).
