Crisis Management Workshop at Albany Chamber of Commerce

02/17/2010 - 9:30am

New Directions Consulting of Bennington, VT will offer a new workshop entitled CM to CM: From Crisis Management to Controlled Management in collaboration with the Albany Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, February 17th from 9:30am to 11:30am in the Catskill Room at the Chamber offices.

Today’s managers are drowning in to do’s and responding to the tyranny of the urgent.  This workshop will provide immediately useful, practical tools to shift a manager’s approach toward a planned, highly effective style.

Lisa Dunbar, workshop presenter and a 23-year organizational specialist and consultant at New Directions Consulting, states, “With more tasks being asked to be accomplished by fewer workers these days, there is a tendency for many managers and supervisors to become overloaded and inefficient as decision makers.  Projects lose steam and fail to meet deadlines or expectations.  The half-day workshop will provide 6 free tools to help every level of manager and supervisor organize their day and effectively delegate tasks in a more effective way.  We guarantee these tools to be implementable the minute the participants walk out the door and into their offices or their money back.”

Dunbar, also the president of a local SHRM group in southern Vermont, has helped organizations with human resource management needs and provided coaching in managing diversity, corrective action and dismissal and sexual and general harassment training. Dunbar also coaches on a variety of topics including teams, supervision skills, quality customer service, and conflict resolution skills. Dunbar is a frequent contributor to the popular leadership blog, NDCBlogger.

A recent participant of Dunbar’s classes was quoted as saying, “The class had many levels of supervisors and those that were not yet supervisors, but could potentially be in the future. Lisa was able to reach each level of supervisor and keep each participant engaged in the interactive sessions. Lisa has a very calming demeanor and has worked with many different types of supervisors so she was able to apply real work experiences and share success stories.”
