Barr Hill Gin Partners with Liquor.com for First-Ever

Bee’s Knees Week Sept. 25th - Oct. 1st, 2017

Hardwick, Vermont: Barr Hill Gin by Caledonia Spirits is announcing Bee’s Knees Week in partnership with Liquor.com. Bee’s Knees Week is a week to celebrate, educate, and drive awareness of the importance of bees to agriculture, and our ecosystem as a whole, through the Bee’s Knees Cocktail. This event will be a week long celebration at participating bars from September 25th through October 1st, 2017. Bee’s Knees Week will take place in all 30 US Markets where Barr Hill Gin is distributed.

“One cocktail will not save the world, but if it can inspire the right conversation, we’re making progress."

- Ryan Christiansen, President & Head Distiller of Caledonia Spirits

Our Reason to Bee: Bees play a significant role in our local, national, and international agricultural systems. Without their ability to pollinate the production of many of our fruits, vegetables, and nuts would be negatively affected. As our Barr Hill spirits are crafted with raw northern honey, we are taking a substantial step toward supporting a cause that is deep within our brand. By helping to save the bees we’re working to protect our future and the wonderful beekeepers we support. The future of agriculture and humanity depends on it.

The Bee’s Knees Cocktail: This is a Prohibition Era style cocktail. The term “Bee’s Knees” is slang for “the best.” From the 1920’s through 1933, the addition of honey and citrus was used to make the taste and smell of the bathtub gin more palatable. Barr Hill Gin, in comparison, is a multi time gold winning New World style gin. We distill corn neutral spirit in a custom botanical extraction still with organic juniper, adding our raw northern honey after distillation to retain its sweetness and beneficial health qualities. Barr Hill Gin is the best and, in our opinion, the only gin perfectly suited for the modern day adaptation of the Bee’s Knees cocktail.

“Having recently won the title of Best in Class for Craft Gin at the American Distilling Institute’s 2017 Judging of Craft Spirits, we’re honored to direct the national momentum and excitement around Barr Hill Gin toward a cause so closely connected to our brand: saving the bees.”  - Anna Bromley, Marketing Manager at Caledonia Spirits

Bee’s Knees Week is asking people who are interested in helping us with our mission to add your venue to our list or participating locations and commit to donating a $1 from each cocktail to one of our selected organizations: The Bee Cause Project, The Pollinator Partnership, The Honeybee Conservancy,  HoneyLove.org, and People & Pollinators Action Network. Anyone interested in participating during the week and would like to stay up-to-date on details and all things bees can sign up for our Bees Knees Week Enews.

We are excited to announce our first sponsors The Farmhouse Group and The State of Vermont Department of Tourism. Those who are interested in becoming a sponsorship partner for the week can reach out to us for opportunities.
